Microsoft Reorganises Around Agentic AI Stack
CEO Satya Nadella signs off on the largest internal restructuring since 2018, consolidating Copilot, Azure AI and Office around a unified agentic platform.

Microsoft announced an internal reorganisation this week that consolidates its Copilot, Azure AI and Office productivity organisations around a unified agentic platform leadership structure.
The change, the largest internal restructuring under chief executive Satya Nadella since 2018, places former Azure CTO Mark Russinovich in charge of a unified AI platform organisation reporting directly to Nadella.
Strategically, the move reflects the company's growing conviction that agentic computing — software that can autonomously perform multi-step tasks across enterprise systems — will be the dominant interaction model for enterprise software within five years.
Internal sources describe the reorganisation as broadly welcomed, though several Office product leaders are expected to depart following the change in reporting lines.
